Keynote Speakers

Prof.Giovanni Maria Carlomagno
Prof. Giovanni Maria Carlomagno University of Naples Federico II, Department of Industrial Engineering, Napoli, Campania, Italy. Doctor in Mechanical Engineering (1965), dedicated his research career to the development and application of advanced experimental measurement and flow visualization for the study of basic and/or applied problems of fluid dynamics and heat transfer. Author of more than 400 scientific papers and of more than 10 industrial patents, he is recognized as a pioneer in the application of IR thermography to thermal-fluids problems and to material non-destructive evaluation. The introduction of the concept of lockin thermography was suggested in the 70s and the first studies of jet impingement heat transfer with IR thermography were performed in the 80s. He recently authored with prof. Astarita the book Infrared Thermography for Thermo- Fluid-Dynamics for Springer. After being Assistant Professor at University of Naples (1967) and research Assistant at Princeton University (1967/68), Carlomagno became Associate Professor of Physics, then of Gasdynamics (University of Naples 1969/1985) and Professor of Gasdynamics (1986/2011). He covered also several academic positions such as Board of Trustees Member (University of Naples 1982/90), Dean of the Mechanical Engineering School (1989/92), Member and Chairman of von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics Technical Advisory Committee (1992/2015), Member of the Executive Committee of the International Council of Aeronautical Sciences (1996-2008), Dean of the Aerospace Engineering School (1999/2006). Carlomagno was awarded with several recognitions such as: Eminent Scientist Medal of the Wessex Institute of Technology (1999), Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (1999), Leonardo da Vinci Award for Flow Visualization (2000), FLUCOME Award (2007), Journal of Visualization Award (2007), Honorary Fellow of the International Council of Aeronautical Sciences(2008), Honorary Member of the QIRT Council (2014). Dr.Yin Kwee Ng
Dr. Yin Kwee Ng received his Ph.D. from Cambridge University, is an associate professor at Nanyang Technological University. He serves as Editor-in Chief for two SCIE indexed Journals. His research interests are thermal imaging, biomedical engineering, and computational fluid dynamics / heat transfer. He has published more than 265 ISI journal articles and 80 conference papers and 11 books. He has supervised more than 30 Master and PhD students and amassed over SGD$5M worth of research funding from various organizations in the capacity of the principal investigator. See moreandAbstract

Dr.Steven Shepard
Dr.Steven Shepard received his Ph.D. in Physics from Wayne State University, specializing in laser induced surface displacements in solids. He joined the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive Command Research Branch in Warren, Michigan in 1987, and received the 1991 Army R&D Achievement Award for his work in high speed IR imaging. In 1993, he founded Thermal Wave Imaging, Inc., dedicated to the development and implementation of thermographic solutions for Nondestructive Testing (NDT). At TWI, Dr. Shepard developed the Thermographic Signal Reconstruction (TSR) method, which has since become a widely-used approach to enhancing, quantifying and automating the NDT process. He received the 2014 ASNT Research Innovation Award for his work with TSR. Dr. Shepard holds over 20 patents and has published, taught and lectured extensively in the field of thermographic NDT.Abstract

Prof.Bogusław Więcek
Prof. Bogusław Więcek received his Ph.D. from Lodz University of Technology. He specializes in thermal imaging and computer modeling of complex heat transfer phenomena in electronics. He is the author of over 100 papers in the field of modeling thermal phenomena in electronics, thermography quantitative design of electronic circuits and systems and applications of numerical methods and electronic devices in various fields, especially in medicine. Boguslaw Więcek is a member of the scientific committees of the two largest European conference on thermography: Quantitive Infrared Thermography - Qirt and Thermal Engineering and Thermogrametry - THERMO. He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the International Conference Mixed Design of Integrated Circuits and Systems - MIXDES. He is chairman and organizer of a national conference "Thermography and Infrared Thermometry" - TTP.Abstract
